THE VIDEO CAMERA
At Tamarack we shoot exclusively with high definition (BluRay), 16:9 wide screen professional video cameras. 
Consumer cameras use a single, small (usually 1/8" or  1/4") sensor to capture the image. Small sensors need a lot of light to make a decent image (low light produces noisy, grainy, almost useless images).
 This is sufficient for outdoor events like picnics... not indoor events like church weddings and receptions in dark catering halls.

One of the major differences between consumer cameras & professional cameras is the image sensors. Pro cameras use multiple sensors, usually three, (one for the reds, one for the blues and one for the greens). This and the fact that pro image sensors are much larger  (1/3" to 1") makes the pro camera much more light sensitive, allowing these cameras to attain vastly superior images especially in low light. Add professional quality, high definition optics to the camera, a rock solid tripod, professional microphones and a professional operator and there is just no comparison to "Uncle Lou's" shaky, grainy, nearly silent, dark & fuzzy video. You only get one chance to get your once in a lifetime wedding on tape... do you want to take a chance on "Uncle Lou"?

We can produce stunning high definition BluRay discs because we master the video on high def to start with. We know that not every client wants a BluRay of their wedding, so we give you a choice... Standard Definition DVD's, HiDef BluRays or both.
 
We pride ourselves with our artistic compositions that capture the sensitive emotions of the day. We use situation sensitive camera moves and creatively edit the pieces together into a seamless flow of the day's events.
A poll of our clients show that many don't like the amateurish look of shaky hand held camera work and we agree with that. Most of the time we use rock solid professional fluid head tripods. For those times when a steady hand held shot is called for we use what is called a SteadiCam. It is a high quality professional camera stabilization unit that "absorbs" the hand held shakes & such. The result of using a SteadiCam is that the camera seems to magically fly/float through the scene.
For those times when a shaky hand held shot is called for (and there really are some legitimate uses) we go with another special piece of gear...the double quad, super charged espresso machine, pro grade of course... it always delivers!

THE SOUND
We also understand the creative use of audio. Let's face it... a wedding video without great audio might as well be recorded on flip cards. We use professional microphones. We understand that different types of microphones are designed for different purposes. We choose each of the microphones that we use at your wedding for a particular job. We know what each microphone can do & we know how to get each microphone to do it correctly. We know where to place a microphone to get the best sound and we know how to record the sounds to the correct technical specs so that they deliver beautiful, life like sounds every time!

On your video you will not hear those little cupids that sit on your shoulders whispering sweet nothings into your ear, but you will hear exactly what was said at the alter. You might even hear the sweet nothings that your new husband whispered into your ear during your first dance with him.

Great music and other sounds stir the emotions as well as beautiful visual images do. We can use "your song" as the background sound track or a piece of music that supports and works appropriately with the visuals.

  "THE EDIT"
A professional wedding video spends many hours in the edit suite getting special treatments that an amateur video never gets. Multiple camera angles and sounds get woven together in the edit to give you that "look" of a well done professional TV show.

Most of our clients probably don't know or care how many hours our editors put into creating the beautiful & emotionally stirring video that you receive. During "The Edit" of your video there are a lot of creative decisions have to constantly be made by the editor. From simple things like where in the frame to place the title & what fonts to choose ...all the way to choosing which camera angle shows off the ceremonial kiss the best, what type of video or audio transition would work best in this scene and on & on.

Although we use powerful, top of the line digital editing software, we do not use technology for technology's sake. Special effects... are well... special and should only be used in... well... special situations. However that being said... if you really have your heart set on a  MTV style music video...we can do it... just ask me about the possibilities! 

THE FINAL VIDEO
Every package that we provide comes with one disc mastered on an Archival Quality 24K Gold Coated DVD (industry rated at 100 years*) for you to keep & view as well as a minimum of two Standard DVD's (industry rated at 20+ years*). Stunning High Definition BluRay discs are also available.

We now offer the "Into the Future" option. This is the option for you to have your wedding video placed on a hard disc drive or USB/Flash drive to really be able to safely archive your video. You will be able to transfer your historical wedding video to whatever new media is developed in the future. This option also allows you to view your video in high definition even without a BluRay player.
