This is a short version of why (For
The Complete Version click here) to convert your old tapes to DVD.
VHS tapes and VCRs are fast becoming an obsolete
technology and many may argue that they already are.
- Another concern is damage. Even if your VCR doesn't eat your VHS
tape,
something we are all familiar with, your VHS tape will slowly
degrade over time,
even if you never play the tape. VHS tapes can start falling apart
in as little as
3 years, whereas DVDs can last decades.
- If there's any footage that you want to preserve that's currently
in a VHS
format, now is the time to convert that to a digital format.
- We ONLY transfer copyright free Mini DV, SVHS, VHS and VHS-C & Hi8 format tapes to DVD.
We do not transfer 8mm film,16mm film, Betamax or any other format video to DVD.
- DVDs do eventually degrade (mostly due to the oxidation of the
reflective
layer of the DVD that bounces the laser back into the DVD read
head).
We normally use high quality DVD blank media that should last for at
least
decade or more (scratches or cracked media aside). We can also use
archival
DVD blanks (pricey) made with a gold reflective coating that doesn't
oxidize &
should outlive your DVD player & maybe even yourself.
If you want or have a lot of video that you need put onto one disc
we also offer
BluRay discs. They hold an incredible amount of data compared to a
standard DVD
